A Fulfilling trip
This summer, I went on a trip overseas by myself to see my host family again for the first time in five years. I stayed with them when I was a high school student. They moved to St. Augustine, Florida, one of the oldest cities in the United States, last year. I made money for my trip by working a part-time job. I made a plan with them, and it was decided that I should visit them in August for 3 weeks.
I had a lot of good experiences. My host family held a dinner party twice and gave me a chance to make Japanese dishes. I brought ingredients from Japan, and cooked okonomiyaki, udon, and tempura. I was happy that they said the dishes were delicious! Moreover, I tried playing a new sport, pickleball. This sport is based on table tennis, tennis, and badminton. My host father often plays it, and he invited me to play with him several times. I didn’t know that pickleball is so popular in the USA until he told me. Playing pickleball had me running form corner to corner on the court. I felt a lot healthier after playing.
I enjoyed staying with my host family and felt relaxed because they took good care of me. My host mother is good at making sweets, and while I stayed with my host family, she made me cheesecake, which is my favorite sweet. She remembered what I like. Her cheesecakes are the best I’ve ever had in my life.
I had a great time with my host family, and I will continue improving my English for the next time I see them.
充実した旅行
この夏、私は5年ぶりにホストファミリーと再会しました。私は高校生の時にホストファミリーと過ごしました。彼らは昨年、アメリカの最も古い都市の一つ、フロリダ州セントオーガスティンに引っ越しました。旅行のためにアルバイトをしてお金を貯め、連絡を取りながら、8月に彼らを訪れることに決めました。
思い出に残る経験がたくさんありました。ホストファミリーは2回夕食会を開き、日本料理を作る機会を用意してくれました。私は日本から食材を持参し、お好み焼き、うどん、天ぷらを作りました。「美味しい」と言ってもらえて、とても嬉しかったです！さらに、ピックルボールという新しいスポーツに挑戦しました。このスポーツは卓球、テニス、バドミントンをベースにしています。ホストファザーがよくプレーしているため、やり方を教わりました。ホストファザーから聞くまで、アメリカでピックルボールが流行っていることは知りませんでした。ピックルボールをすることで、コートの隅から隅まで走り回ることになり、かなり健康になった気がしました。
ホストファミリーと過ごすのは楽しく、また親切に接していただき、リラックスできました。ホストマザーはお菓子作りが得意で、私が滞在している間、私の大好きなチーズケーキを作ってくれました。彼女は私の好みを覚えていてくれました。彼女のチーズケーキが今まで食べた中で一番おいしいです。
ホストファミリーとの時間はとても楽しかったです。次に会う際には、もっと英語が上手になっていたいと思います。
