Volunteer Activities with Children
I belong to a volunteer club called “Komaba Kodomo Kai”. This club provides field trip activities for children every other Sunday. This volunteer club offers a lot of positive experiences. In addition, I could make good friends with likeminded people.
This year, I spent a lot of time with my club members because I was the club’s vice-president. Our activities with the children are every other week, but the week before that, our club checks it out in advance. Therefore, I made a habit of doing volunteer work every Sunday. Because I spent a lot of time with the club members, I became good friends with them and worked to carry out our projects. In addition to club activities, I spend time with club members, such as having lunch together at university and hanging out outside of school. This made me realize that the club is a place for me to improve and grow as a person.
My experience at the club was also very useful in the Department of Architecture. There was a task of creating a kindergarten in the design class. Thanks to my experiences volunteering with children, I was able to make a unique design. It was very difficult because I participated in the club between design tasks, but I think it was the most fun design task I had ever had.
I believe that this club will enhance my university life and provide me with precious memories and irreplaceable experiences.
子ども会ライフ
私は駒場子ども会というボランティアサークルに所属しています。子ども会の活動を通して良き友人と学びを得ることができました。駒場子ども会は東京大学駒場キャンパス付近に住む子供と、隔週日曜日に公園や動物園などいろいろなところに遊びに行く活動をしています。サークルの中で4班に分かれており、その中でも私はつぐみ班に所属しています。
つぐみ班の人たちは本当に優しい人が多く、特に同期にはたくさん助けてもらっています。今年はサークル内では企画代であったため、同期で過ごす時間が多くありました。子供たちとの活動は隔週ですが、その前の週には大学生だけで下見をするので毎週日曜日は子ども会というルーティンができていました。１年生の時にはぎこちなかった関係性でしたが、同期でレクリエーションを考えたり、企画を実行したりする中で一緒にいると安心と思える良き友人になりました。サークルの活動だけでなく、つぐみ班の人たちとは大学内で一緒にランチをしたり、遊びに行ったりとサークル活動以外にも一緒に過ごしています。
子ども会での経験は住居学科の課題で非常に活きました。設計の授業でこども園を作る課題がありました。その際に普段から子供たちと触れ合っていたおかげで、子供の目線に合わせたユニークな設計を行うことができバーティカルレビューで発表することができました。設計の課題の合間を縫って子ども会に参加していたため非常に大変でしたが、今までの設計課題の中でも一番楽しいと思いながら設計をすることができました。子ども会は私にとってリフレッシュの場でもあり、子供たちから様々な学びをもらっているのだと実感しました。
子ども会は私の大学生活を充実させ、友人にも恵まれ、かけがえのない時間がそこにはあると思っています。
